The Assassin is returning next month, with Prime Video confirming that all six episodes of Season 2 will arrive in the UK and Ireland on 6 November. Keeley Hawes and Freddie Highmore are back as former assassin Julie and her investigative journalist son Edward, with the first trailer showing the pair being pulled into another dangerous situation after the events of Season 1.
The new season finds Julie and Edward estranged once again, but that does not last long when Edward’s honeymoon with Kayla, played by Shalom Brune-Franklin, goes very wrong. Kayla is taken hostage, forcing Edward to turn to his mother for help and sending the pair into the Spanish criminal underworld. The trailer shows Julie and Edward reluctantly working together again, with kidnapping, car chases and international crime all waiting for them as their already complicated relationship is put under more pressure.
Hawes, Highmore and Brune-Franklin will all return alongside Devon Terrell, with Arnaud Binard, Natalia Tena, Boris Van Severen, Jacqueline Boatswain and Monic Hendrickx joining the cast for Season 2. Karl El-Santos, Mehdi Regragui, Casimiro Aguza, Tony Corvillo, Amin Hamada and Lolo Herrero will also appear, with filming for the new season taking place in Malta.
Harry and Jack Williams return as writers and executive producers, with the series once again produced by Two Brothers Pictures. Hawes and Highmore also serve as executive producers, alongside Sarah Hammond, Alex Mercer and Daisy Mount. Terry McDonough directs Episodes 1 to 3, with Sarah O’Gorman taking over for Episodes 4 to 6.

For CultureCues, we loved Season 1, so we’re very happy to have The Assassin back. Keeley Hawes and Freddie Highmore were brilliant together, and that mother-and-son dynamic was one of our favourite parts of the first series. The new trailer looks packed with action, and with Kayla’s kidnapping dragging them back into trouble, we’re very ready to see what happens next. We’re also glad all six episodes are dropping at once, because this is definitely one we’ll be binging.
The Assassin Season 2 arrives on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland on 6 November.
