Imperfect Women is officially returning for Season 2, with Apple TV renewing the drama around five months after its first season came to an end. Kerry Washington will return as Eleanor, with the new season taking her character back to Martha’s Vineyard as secrets from her past begin to surface.
The renewal also means Imperfect Women is no longer being treated as a limited series. The first season starred Washington alongside Elisabeth Moss and Kate Mara and was based on Araminta Hall’s novel, but Season 2 will expand the story beyond that original run.
What Will Imperfect Women Season 2 Be About?
Season 2 will follow Eleanor as she returns to her roots in the affluent Black community of Martha’s Vineyard. Once there, long-held secrets begin to threaten what she believed she knew about her own past, giving the second season a new story centred much more directly on her character.

Washington said she was excited to return to Eleanor, describing her as intelligent and strong but also someone who continues to find herself in complicated situations. With the first season initially designed as a complete limited story, the new episodes will take the series in a different direction.
Who Is Returning for Imperfect Women Season 2?
Kerry Washington is confirmed to return as Eleanor and will also continue as an executive producer through Simpson Street alongside Pilar Savone. Elisabeth Moss will remain involved behind the scenes as an executive producer but will not reprise her role on screen.

Apple has not confirmed whether Kate Mara will return for Season 2, so further casting details are still to come. Justin Hillian, whose previous credits include The Chi and Snowfall, is joining creator Annie Weisman as co-showrunner for the new season, with both also serving as executive producers.
The series is produced by 20th Television and Apple Studios, with Araminta Hall also remaining involved as an executive producer.
When Will Imperfect Women Season 2 Be Released?
Apple TV has not announced a release date for Imperfect Women Season 2 yet. With the renewal only now confirmed and the new story still moving into production, it is too early to know when Eleanor will be back on screen. More details about filming, additional cast members and the eventual launch date are expected as Season 2 moves forward.
For CultureCues, we’re really happy to see Imperfect Women coming back because Eleanor was such a strong part of the first season and Kerry Washington was brilliant in the role. Taking her back to Martha’s Vineyard and opening up more of her past gives Season 2 plenty to explore, and it feels like a natural way to continue her story. We’ll definitely miss seeing Elisabeth Moss on screen, but we’re glad she is still involved behind the scenes, and we’re looking forward to seeing where the series goes now that it has moved beyond its limited-series beginnings.
Imperfect Women will return for Season 2 on Apple TV, with a release date still to be announced.
