ITV has acquired the UK rights to The Last to Disappear, a new six-part crime drama starring Sam Keeley and based on Jo Spain’s bestselling novel of the same name. The series follows an Irish lobbyist living and working in London who travels to Lapland after learning that his sister has apparently drowned while working at a luxury resort. However, it soon becomes clear that her death may not have been an accident, with the investigation potentially connecting her to a string of murdered women.
Keeley, whose recent credits include Task, Kin and Dublin Murders, leads the cast alongside Oona Airola (Hildur, Helsinki Syndrome) and Thea Sofie Loch Næss (La Palma, So Long, Marianne).

The Last to Disappear begins when an Irish lobbyist based in London receives the news that his sister has died while working at a luxury resort in Lapland. Her death is initially believed to have been an accidental drowning, but his trip to Finland quickly raises questions about what actually happened.
He soon discovers that his sister’s death may be connected to several other murdered women, turning his search for answers into a much bigger investigation. The remote Lapland setting will provide the backdrop for the six-part story as he tries to uncover the truth about his sister and the other victims. The drama is based on Jo Spain’s novel and will consist of six hour-long episodes.

For CultureCues, we’re looking forward to seeing more from this one. We’re big fans of Sam Keeley, and putting him at the centre of a crime drama set in Lapland already gives us plenty to be interested in. The mystery around his sister’s death, and the possibility that it connects to several other women, also leaves a lot for the series to uncover. We’ll definitely be watching for that ITV release date.
The Last to Disappear is coming to ITV, with a release date still to be announced.
