Time Series 3 reaches its finale tonight, Sunday 18 October, bringing Jimmy McGovern’s latest prison story to a close on BBC One. David Tennant joined the cast for the third series as veteran prison officer Bobby Bailey, with Siobhan Finneran returning as prison chaplain Marie-Louise O’Dell. This time, the drama moved inside a Young Offender Institution, following both the teenagers serving sentences there and the staff responsible for looking after them.

As with the previous two series, viewers did not need to have watched Time before starting Series 3. Each series tells a new story with a different group of characters, although Finneran’s Marie-Louise continues to provide a connection between them.

What Time Is the Time Series 3 Finale on Tonight?

The third and final episode of Time Series 3 airs tonight, Sunday 18 October, at 9pm on BBC One. The full three-part series is also already available on BBC iPlayer, so viewers who have been waiting for the BBC One broadcast can either watch tonight or stream the complete story now.

What Is Time Series 3 About?

The series follows Marie-Louise as she begins working at a Young Offender Institution while dealing with a crisis of faith. After a tragedy inside the prison, she comes into conflict with Bobby, a long-serving officer who knows more about what happened than he is willing to admit.

Alongside their story, the drama follows teenage offenders James and Peter during their first months in prison. James is struggling to face his parents following an act of violence, while Peter finds himself caught between telling the truth about an innocent man’s death and remaining loyal to his family. Louis McCartney and Ollie McNulty play James and Peter, with Daniel Ryan, Jo Joyner, Vinette Robinson and Chukwubuikem Molokwu also among the cast.

For CultureCues, we have really enjoyed having Time back after three years. David Tennant has been such a good addition to the series, and we are always happy to see Siobhan Finneran return as Marie-Louise. Jimmy McGovern has given us another difficult and emotional story this time around, and tonight brings it all to an end. We’ll be watching tonight and will have our full breakdown and review on CultureCues soon.

The Time Series 3 finale airs tonight, Sunday 18 October, at 9pm on BBC One. All three episodes are available now on BBC iPlayer.
