Sky has released the official trailer for YAGA, its new eight-part mystery thriller starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, Clark Backo and Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams. The series will premiere in the UK and Ireland on Sky and NOW on 31 October, with the first three episodes available from launch.

Created and written by Kat Sandler, YAGA mixes murder, secrets and ancient magic in a small coastal town, with the new trailer giving a look at the mystery ahead. It also features a new cover of “Season of the Witch” by Alanis Morissette, which only adds to the eerie atmosphere as things become increasingly intense.

What Is YAGA About?

Noah Reid stars as Rapp, a private investigator who arrives in town to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park, a young heir to a powerful fishery played by Hudson Williams. His search puts him up against local detective Carson, played by Clark Backo, as well as Carrie-Anne Moss’ Katherine, a charismatic university professor whose own secrets quickly make her another person of interest.

The investigation soon opens up a much stranger world of hidden lives, suspicious characters and ancient magic. The trailer also reveals Williams in a second role as Henry’s roommate, adding another intriguing layer to the mystery around his disappearance.

Who Is in the YAGA Cast?

Alongside Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, Clark Backo and Hudson Williams, the cast includes Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows, Ezra Franky, Patrick Gilmore, Katharine Isabelle and Hiro Kanagawa. Emilija Baranac, Georgia Acken, Anisa Harris and Sam Krochmal also appear across the eight-part series.

The show is produced by Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures in association with Bell Media, with David Frazee and Rachel Talalay serving as co-directors. Mackenzie Donaldson, Andrew Miller and Carrie-Anne Moss are among the executive producers.

When Is YAGA Released on Sky and NOW?

YAGA premieres exclusively in the UK and Ireland on Sky and NOW on 31 October, with the first three episodes released together. The Halloween date works well with the darker supernatural side of the series, and one line about women being “angry about everything” hints at some of the themes running through the story.

For CultureCues, this trailer has absolutely sold us. The mystery already sounded interesting, but seeing the strange magic, murder investigation and darker side of the town together makes it look even better. We have loved Noah Reid since Schitt’s Creek, so seeing him step into such a different role is a big part of the appeal for us. Carrie-Anne Moss looks brilliant, we are very interested to see what Hudson Williams’ dual role means for the story, and the Alanis Morissette cover works so well over the footage. Those final 30 seconds are seriously tense. Wow. We cannot wait for this one.
