Disney+ has released the official trailer for The Real Rooneys, giving viewers a first proper look inside Wayne and Coleen Rooney’s family life ahead of the new documentary series arriving later this month. The 10-part Hulu Original follows the Rooneys through a major year of change, with Wayne stepping away from football management and spending more time at home while Coleen takes on some of the biggest opportunities of her career. Cameras also follow the couple as they raise their four sons, with eldest son Kai continuing to pursue his own football ambitions.

When Is The Real Rooneys Released on Disney+?

The Real Rooneys premieres exclusively on Disney+ on Thursday, 24 September. Episodes 1 to 8 will all be available from launch, followed by two special episodes arriving on Thursday, 1 October. That means viewers will be able to watch the majority of the series straight away before returning the following week for the final two instalments.

The series follows Wayne and Coleen during what Disney+ describes as a pivotal year for the family. Wayne is adjusting to life away from football management and taking on more of the school-run routine, while Coleen is balancing family life with new career opportunities, including designing her own Primark collection. The cameras follow the family from their Cheshire home to trips in Barbados, Disneyland Paris and the Alps, alongside celebrations, holidays, personal revelations and career milestones. Kai’s football journey also plays a role as the family support him while he works towards his own ambitions in the sport.

There is plenty beyond football too, with the focus on family life, Coleen’s career and Wayne adjusting to spending more time at home. With eight episodes dropping at once, we can already see this becoming an easy weekend binge before the two specials arrive the following week.
