Cloaks at the ready because we finally have a date. The Celebrity Traitors Series 2 will begin on Thursday, 1 October at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with Claudia Winkleman welcoming 21 new celebrity players to the Scottish Highlands.

The BBC has also released a new trailer for the series, giving viewers their first look at the celebrities meeting one another and taking part in an explosive mission before the game of detection, trust and betrayal gets underway. “If this is the last time we’re friends, good luck,” Maya Jama tells her fellow players from one of the familiar Traitors jeeps, while Bella Ramsey admits, “My heart is racing.” The trailer also teases Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett confronting each other over whether either of them could be a Traitor.

The series will air twice a week, with new episodes scheduled for Thursday and Friday evenings at 8pm. The BBC has not detailed the complete episode schedule in its latest announcement, but we now know exactly when the new game begins and which nights viewers need to keep free.

Claudia Winkleman returns as host, once again deciding which celebrities will secretly become Traitors before sending the group into missions, murders and round-table banishments as they compete for up to £100,000 for charities of their choice.

All 21 celebrities have now been confirmed, bringing together actors, comedians, musicians, presenters and broadcasters for another trip to the castle.

There are already plenty of names we cannot wait to see around that round table. Sharon Rooney gives us a Scottish contestant to root for, while Miranda Hart, Michael Sheen, Bella Ramsey and Richard E. Grant should be fascinating in a game built around convincing everyone that you can be trusted. Then there are James Acaster, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, which feels like an almost unfair amount of comedy potential in one castle.

What Else Is Returning With The Celebrity Traitors?

The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked will also return, with Ed Gamble once again joined by murdered and banished players to break down the latest betrayals, accusations and gameplay. It will air on BBC One at 9.15pm immediately after the main series, as well as on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds. There will also be additional bonus episodes on BBC Sounds featuring extended celebrity interviews.

The BBC is adding another extra for Series 2 too. Traitor or Faithful? Claudia Decides will show how Claudia chooses her Traitors, with previously unseen footage revealing more about her conversations with the celebS before she decides who gets a cloak.

It will be available on BBC iPlayer from 9.15pm on Thursday, 1 October.

How Successful Was The Celebrity Traitors Series 1?

The first series launched in October 2025 and became a huge success for the BBC, averaging 14.9 million viewers across its run and reaching 15.4 million for the finale. According to the BBC, that made the finale the highest-rated episode of an entertainment programme since 2016.

Uncloaked also proved popular, with its first celebrity run helping drive 13 million combined plays across BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer. Those numbers mean expectations are understandably high for Series 2, particularly after the first run gave viewers Alan Carr at his most brilliantly Alan Carr and turned the celebrity version into an event in its own right.

For CultureCues, we have been waiting for this date and 1 October cannot come quickly enough. The first celebrity series was one of our favourite TV events of 2025, and this cast already looks like it could give us plenty to talk about. We have people we want to see as Faithfuls, a few we would love Claudia to hand a cloak to, and we are fully prepared for our predictions to fall apart at the first round table. Recreating the magic of Alan Carr’s run in Series 1 will be no easy task, but we have faith. Or should that be Faithful?
