Marvel Studios has released the full trailer for VisionQuest, bringing Paul Bettany’s Vision back to the MCU alongside the return of James Spader as Ultron. The eight-part Disney+ series will conclude the story that began with WandaVision and continued through Agatha All Along, with Vision now trying to understand exactly who he is after being rebuilt and escaping those who wanted to use him as a weapon.
The new trailer gives us our biggest look at the series so far, including Vision confronting the different AI personalities embedded within his programming. F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H. and J.A.R.V.I.S. all feature, but the biggest return is Ultron, with Spader reprising the role more than a decade after Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Vision has been living in hiding and searching for a new purpose, but that changes when a bounty is placed on his head. He soon finds himself on the run alongside Thomas Shepherd, played by Ruaridh Mollica, a mysterious young man who may have a bigger connection to Vision than either of them initially understands.
Following the events of Agatha All Along, Thomas has regained memories of his previous life as Tommy Maximoff inside Wanda’s Hex and is now looking for answers about who he really is. The trailer makes his relationship with Vision a major part of the story, bringing another member of Wanda Maximoff’s family back into the MCU.
Todd Stashwick also makes his debut as Paladin, who appears to be hunting Vision and Tommy. The pair eventually find themselves heading towards Madripoor, with Vision forced to release Ultron from his digital Mindscape as the situation gets worse.
Ultron clearly has unfinished business, with the villain still carrying the same threat he brought to the Avengers all those years ago. The trailer also sees him refer to Wanda as a “dead witch”, suggesting Vision may have to confront what happened to her as he tries to make sense of his own past.

Alongside Bettany, Spader and Mollica, the cast includes James D’Arcy as Jarvis, T’Nia Miller, Emily Hampshire, Orla Brady, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, Lauren Morais and Diane Morgan. VisionQuest has been created by Terry Matalas, who previously served as showrunner on the final season of Star Trek: Picard.
The series will consist of eight episodes and premieres on Disney+ on 14 October with its first two episodes, followed by weekly releases.
At CultureCues, we’re huge Marvel fans, so we’ve been waiting for the full VisionQuest trailer and it did not disappoint. Seeing Vision trying to understand who he is, what he stands for and what he wants to become gives the series a much more personal side, and adding Tommy, Ultron and all those WandaVision connections back into the mix makes it even better. This feels like the kind of Marvel story the MCU has been needing. The trailer was epic, and 14 October cannot come quickly enough.
VisionQuest premieres on Disney+ on 14 October with two episodes.
