If you have already raced through all eight episodes of Crew Girl, you are probably wondering exactly where that finale leaves Teagan, Cam and Josh. Netflix’s new YA sports drama wraps up its first season with the Haverford Cup, major changes for the Easton crew and several storylines very deliberately left open for a potential second season.
Teagan also ends the season in a much different place from where she started. Her relationship with her father finally reaches a turning point, Easton gets back onto the podium and a new girls’ crew could change everything if the series returns. The love triangle, however, is definitely not settled.
Warning: major spoilers for Crew Girl Season 1 below.
Who Does Teagan Choose in the Crew Girl Ending?
Technically, Teagan does not completely choose between Cam and Josh by the end of Season 1. Cam gets the clearest romantic moment in the finale when he finds Teagan and the pair kiss, suggesting the door is very much open for them to try again after their earlier problems.

Josh is not out of the picture, though. Following his heart surgery, he asks Teagan for another chance and the pair share a lingering look that makes it clear there are still feelings between them. The finale therefore leaves Teagan physically ending the season with Cam, but without completely closing the door on Josh, giving the love triangle plenty of room to continue.
What Happens to Josh in Crew Girl?
Josh discovers during the season that he has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, making it dangerous for him to continue rowing. He initially tries to hide the diagnosis because of the pressure he feels from his family and even obtains medication so he can keep competing, but things come to a head after he experiences heart pain and crashes his car.

He eventually tells his family the truth and undergoes heart surgery. His future in rowing is left uncertain, but the experience changes his position going into a possible second season. With Josh no longer simply focused on being Easton’s golden boy, there is room for the series to explore who he is away from the expectations surrounding rowing and his family.
What Happens at the Haverford Cup?
Teagan almost misses the Haverford Cup after the investigation into the sabotaged rowing machine at the Norfolk Indoor Rowing Invitation. She had deliberately interfered with the erg after discovering that Cam had accepted money from Ryder to lose his race, hoping to invalidate both results and give Cam another chance.

When Teagan steps away from the Haverford crew, however, the rest of the team refuses to row without her. Coach Hayden allows her back into the boat, with Cam taking the stroke seat and Teagan returning as coxswain. Easton goes on to finish second, beating rival Westvale and earning its first podium finish.
There is a consequence for Hayden, though. Principal Cabrera confronts him after seeing Teagan and Cam competing despite the earlier order to remove whoever was responsible for the tampering, and Hayden takes responsibility for the decision and is fired.
What Happens to Teagan’s Dad?
Teagan’s father David had fled after being accused of defrauding investors out of millions, leaving Teagan and her mother Ella to deal with both the financial and personal fallout. He unexpectedly returns late in the season claiming that evidence on a USB could help him recover some of what the family had lost.
Teagan eventually sees him and tells her father that she would rather he turn himself in than continue disappearing from her life. David stays long enough to secretly watch her compete at the Haverford Cup before taking her advice and handing himself over to the authorities, giving their storyline some resolution while leaving plenty unanswered about what happens next.
Does Easton Start a Girls’ Crew Team?

Yes. One of the finale’s biggest setups for another season comes from Britney, who decides to create a girls’ crew at Easton. With financial backing secured and enough students interested, the school agrees to start the new team. That leaves Teagan with a potentially huge decision if Crew Girl returns. She has become an important part of the boys’ boat as their coxswain, but joining the girls’ team could give her another route back towards her own ambitions as a rower. It could also change the entire dynamic between Teagan, Cam, Josh and the rest of the crew.
Who Really Broke the Oar?
The team initially believes Westvale rower Logan sabotaged the boat after he was left alone inside Easton’s boathouse. Baloo is devastated by the apparent betrayal and ends their relationship, but Logan later reveals that he was not responsible. Josh was actually the person who damaged the oar, adding another complication to his storyline and showing how badly the pressure surrounding him had begun affecting his decisions. Baloo and Logan reconcile once the truth comes out.
Will There Be a Crew Girl Season 2?
Netflix has not announced Crew Girl Season 2 at the moment, so there is no confirmed renewal. The ending certainly gives the series plenty to continue with. Teagan still has unfinished business with both Cam and Josh, Josh is adjusting to life after heart surgery, Coach Hayden has been fired, Teagan’s father has turned himself in and Easton now has a new girls’ crew that could completely change Teagan’s place at the school.

The cast and showrunner have also already discussed possibilities for another season, including expanding the rowing story and continuing Teagan’s complicated romantic life. For now, however, viewers will have to wait for Netflix to decide whether the crew gets back in the boat.
For CultureCues, we enjoyed Crew Girl much more than we expected to. Rowing was not a sport we had ever really thought about before watching this, and somehow eight episodes later we were completely invested in who was sitting in stroke seat and whether Easton was going to make the podium. We binged the whole season and really liked Teagan, Cam, Josh and the wider crew, and the finale left us wanting Season 2 straight away. It is also rare for us to get through a love triangle without having a clear favourite. We were definitely Team Cam at the start, but Josh really won us over, and now we genuinely do not know which side we are on because we like them both. Add the new girls’ team into the mix and there is so much we want to see next. Netflix, please give us Season 2, with Coach Hayden rehired before we start a petition.
All eight episodes of Crew Girl Season 1 are streaming now on Netflix.
