Sharon Horgan is back with a new comedy, with Youth now available on HBO Max in the UK from today, Monday, 21 September. Created by and starring the Bad Sisters and Catastrophe writer, Youth follows Alex, a 50-year-old divorcee trying to find sex and love while caring for her ageing parents and dealing with her should-be grown-up son. Rupert Friend, Sharlene Whyte, Aran Murphy and Robbie Gee also star in the new HBO series.

There are eight episodes in Youth. The series launched with its first two episodes together, with one new episode then arriving each week.

What Is Youth About?
The official synopsis reads: “Youth follows Alex, a 50-year-old divorcee searching for sex and love while juggling caring for her ailing parents and parenting her should-be grown-up son.”
Rupert Friend stars as Patrick, with Sharlene Whyte as Sam, Aran Murphy as Ruari and Robbie Gee as Frank. The wider cast also includes Damian Lewis, who appears in the opening episode. HBO describes the series as a comedy centred on Alex’s search for sex and love while balancing the people who still depend on her.

We have loved Sharon Horgan’s work on Catastrophe and Bad Sisters, and having her back both behind the series and on screen gives us even more reason to tune in.
