This City Is Ours is officially back, with all eight episodes of Series 2 now available to stream on BBC iPlayer from today, Sunday 25 October. The first episode also airs tonight at 9pm on BBC One, with the series continuing on Sunday and Monday nights.

James Nelson-Joyce returns as Michael Kavanagh alongside Hannah Onslow as Diana Williams, with the new season picking up after the events of the first series. Michael and Diana are barely in Spain before they are pulled back into questions around Ricardo’s death, while things continue to unravel back in Liverpool.

Shaun Evans joins the cast as Ozzie Thompson, an old-school gangster from Ronnie’s era who has recently been released from prison, with Álvaro Morte also joining as Felipe Guzman, Ricardo’s younger brother. Both arrivals give Michael another problem to deal with as he tries to hold on to everything he fought for in Series 1, with the fallout from Ricardo’s death still hanging over the gang.

Returning cast members include Jack McMullen, Mike Noble, Julie Graham, Laura Aikman, Kevin Harvey, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Darci Shaw, Adam Abbou and Bobby Schofield. The BBC has also already confirmed that This City Is Ours will return for Series 3, with filming set to take place primarily in Liverpool in 2027.

For CultureCues, we loved the first series and have been looking forward to Series 2 ever since, so this is definitely on our watchlist today. We’ll be getting stuck into the new episodes and will have our full CultureCues review up soon.

All eight episodes of This City Is Ours Season 2 are available now on BBC iPlayer.
