The Walsh Sisters is officially returning for Series 2, with the BBC confirming another six episodes of the Dublin-set comedy drama inspired by Marian Keyes’ bestselling novels. Caroline Menton, Danielle Galligan, Máiréad Tyers, Stefanie Preissner and Louisa Harland will all return as the five Walsh sisters, alongside Carrie Crowley and Aidan Quinn as Mammy and Daddy Walsh. The new series will also introduce several new characters as each sister deals with changes in their relationships, families and lives.
What Will The Walsh Sisters Series 2 Be About?
Series 2 returns to the Walsh family in Dublin as Rachel, Claire, Maggie, Helen and Anna all find themselves questioning the roles they have previously settled into.
Rachel begins trying to navigate recovery outside the family bubble, but an encounter with someone familiar tests her independence. Claire challenges the different expectations placed on her as a mother compared with those placed on her ex as a father, while Maggie’s attempts to build the perfect family take an unexpected turn as her marriage reaches a crossroads.
Helen becomes increasingly protective of her sisters while dealing with her own emotional wellbeing, and Anna tries some unusual ways of getting over heartbreak. Daddy Walsh, meanwhile, remains largely unaware of the drama around him as he focuses on landing a role in the local amateur dramatic musical, much to Mammy Walsh’s frustration.

For CultureCues, we are really happy The Walsh Sisters is coming back for Series 2. We loved the first series and the Walsh family quickly became one of the biggest reasons to keep watching, so we are glad all five sisters will be back. From the sounds of the new storylines, there is plenty more ahead for each of them, and we cannot wait to see where Series 2 takes the family next.
The Walsh Sisters will return for a second six-part series on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
