We already knew Glee was officially coming back, but now the original cast reunion is starting to look a lot more real. Lea Michele is reportedly set to return as Rachel Berry in the new Disney+ and Hulu series, with multiple sources confirming the casting on 22 October. Representatives for Michele and Ryan Murphy declined to comment, but the report says her return is already in place, which feels like the first proper sign that this new series could have a much stronger connection to the original cast than we first knew.
Heather Morris and Chord Overstreet have also both shared social media posts that seem to hint at returns as Brittany Pierce and Sam Evans, although neither has been officially confirmed yet. Murphy previously said he had been in touch with around ten members of the original cast, so there are clearly more conversations happening behind the scenes than we know about right now. For longtime fans, that makes every post, throwback and suspiciously timed video feel worth watching very closely.
Is Dianna Agron Returning as Quinn Fabray?
Nothing has been confirmed for Dianna Agron yet, but she has definitely added fuel to the fire. Agron is currently filming the fifth and final season of HBO’s Industry, and just one day after the Glee reboot was announced she shared a Glee-themed video with her co-stars Myha’la and Ben Platt, recreating Quinn Fabray’s “I Say a Little Prayer” choreography.
That is one of Quinn’s most memorable moments from the original series, and seeing Agron revisit it right after the reboot news was always going to get fans talking. It is not confirmation that Quinn is coming back, but the timing is very interesting, especially with more original cast names already being linked to the new series. At this point, every original cast post is going to have Gleeks analysing it for clues, and CultureCues will absolutely be doing the same.
Could Heather Morris Return as Brittany?
Heather Morris is another name we would obviously love to see back, but Brittany’s return also comes with a much bigger question because Santana will not be there. Naya Rivera, who played Santana Lopez, died in 2020, and Brittany and Santana’s relationship became such an important part of Glee for so many fans. If Morris does return, the new series is going to have to handle Santana’s absence with real care. Personally, we really hope they do not take the easy route and kill Santana off within the story just to explain why she is not there. Brittany and Santana got their happy ending, and that meant a lot to people, so if Brittany comes back, there needs to be a thoughtful reason for Santana not being with her that respects both the character and Rivera’s legacy.
Please, Glee. Do not mess with Brittana.

Who Else Could Return?
Disney+ and Hulu have already given the new Glee series a full series order, with Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan behind the project. Story details are still being kept under wraps, so we do not yet know how Rachel, Quinn, Brittany, Sam or any of the other returning characters would fit into the new series, but the original cast involvement already seems to be becoming a much bigger part of the conversation.
For CultureCues, we were already excited when the reboot was announced, but now Lea Michele is coming back as Rachel Berry, Dianna Agron is recreating Quinn’s “I Say a Little Prayer” routine and Heather Morris and Chord Overstreet are out here dropping hints, so yes, prepare for us to become very annoying about this. We are fully back in Gleek mode, we are watching every post, and if more of the original cast start being confirmed, we are going to need to talk about all of it. Gleeks, this is getting serious.
The new Glee series is coming to Disney+ and Hulu, with Lea Michele reportedly returning as Rachel Berry.
