Channel 4’s survival series Apocalypse comes to an end tonight, Sunday 25 October, with the seventh and final episode airing at 9pm. The series began in September with 14 ordinary people from the UK and Australia dropped into an abandoned town with no electricity, running water or food. Split into two camps, Eastside and Westside, the contestants had no idea the other group existed at first and were left to work out how to find food, shelter and everything else they needed to survive.
Across the series, the group has included people with very different backgrounds and practical skills, from farmers and mechanics to a paramedic, psychologist, chef, student nurse and content creator. Among those taking part are Steven McKell, Kiera Madison, Bertie Watkins, Kyra Muzvaba, Louise Baker, Scott McMinn, Laura Powell, Ioan Humphreys, Freddie Browne, Brooke McCreaner, Celia Hibbert, Matty Wilson, Kelly Cartwright and Dean Sganga.
The whole experiment has been built around whether people thrown into that situation would work together or start competing for limited resources, with the two sides regularly having to make decisions that affect everyone else. Tonight’s episode brings the seven-part run to a close and reveals how the remaining survivors handle the final stage of the experiment.
For CultureCues, Apocalypse has been such an interesting idea for a reality series, especially because stripping away all the usual comforts changes the group dynamic very quickly. We’ll be watching tonight to see how it all ends and who manages to make it through the final part of the experiment.
The Apocalypse finale airs tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
