ITV’s Adultery is approaching its final two episodes, and viewers won’t have long to wait to find out what happens next. The six-part drama, starring Dominic Cooper and Romola Garai, will return with episode five on Sunday 8 November 2026 at 9pm on ITV1 and STV, before the series concludes with its final episode on Monday 9 November at 9pm.

Written by BAFTA-winning screenwriter Danny Brocklehurst, Adultery follows two married parents, Tom Kirkman (Dominic Cooper) and Beth Brookes (Romola Garai), whose teenage children, Jess and Ollie, begin a relationship. However, things become complicated when Tom and Beth develop feelings for one another and begin an affair of their own, putting both of their marriages and families at risk.

The drama premiered on Sunday 25 October, with episodes airing on Sunday and Monday evenings over three weeks. All six episodes are also available to stream on ITVX and STV Player for viewers who would rather watch the entire series without waiting for the television broadcasts.

What Happens in Adultery Episode 5?

Episode four saw Beth struggling with the pressure of supporting her husband Neil (Matthew McNulty) through his court case, as the possibility of him going to prison left the family facing an uncertain future. Neil was eventually found guilty of assault but avoided an immediate prison sentence, receiving a suspended sentence, community service and an order to attend an anger-management course.

Things weren’t going well for Tom either, as his brother Paul’s affair was exposed when his wife Leah discovered him with another woman, Alesha, who revealed she was pregnant. Watching his brother’s marriage fall apart only added to Tom’s guilt about his own relationship with Beth, leaving him questioning what he was doing to his family.

Later, at Amy and James’s anniversary party, Beth and Tom found themselves together again, with Beth attempting to kiss him. Tom rejected her advances, reminding her that her husband was downstairs and questioning why she was risking everything. Back at home, Beth had an emotional conversation with Neil about their marriage and how unhappy she’d become with their everyday routine. She later deleted the anonymous messaging app she’d been using to contact Tom, although the episode ended with Tom remembering their time away together, including the moment he’d quietly told Beth he loved her.

With only two episodes remaining, the consequences of their affair are becoming harder to ignore. In episode five, airing this Sunday, Jess and Ollie’s behaviour will lead Tom’s wife Hannah (Shelley Conn) to reveal a painful part of her past, while Beth makes the decision to confront her own. Both Tom and Beth will face some difficult choices as their relationships and family lives continue to suffer.

When Is the Adultery Finale on ITV?

The sixth and final episode of Adultery will air on Monday 9 November at 9pm on ITV1 and STV, bringing the story to its conclusion.

According to the official synopsis, the finale will see a major revelation from Jess threaten both families, bringing Tom and Beth’s relationship to a breaking point. With their secret at risk of being exposed, the final episode will reveal whether the couple can find a future together and what their decisions will mean for those closest to them.

For CultureCues, Adultery has given us plenty of drama over the past few weeks, and we’re looking forward to seeing how it all ends. Tom and Beth have made some questionable decisions, and there have been moments when you just want to give them both a good shake, especially knowing how many people could get hurt. After that last episode, we’re wondering whether they’ll finally put an end to the affair or decide to take things further. We certainly wouldn’t fancy being at their next family dinner, that’s for sure. Either way, with Jess apparently about to drop another bombshell, we can’t imagine it’s going to end quietly.

Adultery episode 5 airs Sunday 8 November 2026 at 9pm on ITV1 and STV, with the series finale following on Monday 9 November at 9pm. All six episodes are available on ITVX and STV Player.
