Sky has revealed the first look at YAGA, a seductive mystery thriller starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, Clark Backo and Hudson Williams. The eight-part Sky Exclusive series was created and written by Kat Sandler and will premiere in the UK and Ireland on Sky and streaming service NOW this October.

Based on Sandler’s 2019 play, YAGA follows private investigator Rapp, played by Schitt’s Creek star Noah Reid, as he arrives in the small coastal town of Whittock to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park, the young heir to a powerful fishery. Henry is played by Hudson Williams, following his breakout role as Shane Hollander in Heated Rivalry. As Rapp begins his investigation, he finds himself at odds with apprehensive local detective Carson, played by Clark Backo, and Katherine, a charismatic university professor with a taste for younger men, played by Carrie-Anne Moss.
The disappearance leads Rapp into a growing maze of suspicious locals, hidden lives and ancient magic, leaving him questioning what he can trust as the case becomes increasingly strange.

The series offers a new take on the myth of Baba Yaga, the witch-like figure from traditional Slavic folklore often associated with a house standing on chicken legs deep within the woods.
The supporting cast includes Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows, Ezra Franky, Patrick Gilmore, Katharine Isabelle, Hiro Kanagawa, Emilija Baranac, Georgia Acken, Anisa Harris and Sam Krochmal.

David Frazee and Rachel Talalay serve as co-directors, while Mackenzie Donaldson, Andrew Miller and Moss are among the executive producers. The series is produced by Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures in association with Bell Media. Justin Stockman, Vice President of Content Development and Programming at Bell Media, described YAGA as “bold, genre-defying storytelling”, adding that Sky’s acquisition reflects the wider appeal of Sandler’s vision and the work of its cast and creative team.

For CultureCues, this has all the ingredients for an addictive autumn mystery. Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid and Clark Backo already make for a brilliant central cast, while Hudson Williams’ next major role will be a particular draw for Heated Rivalry fans. The coastal setting, suspicious locals and supernatural influence give the series plenty of atmosphere, and we are very ready to start untangling its secrets.
YAGA will premiere exclusively in the UK and Ireland on Sky and NOW in October 2026.
