It is almost time! Wizards Beyond Waverly Place returns for one last spell, with its third and final season unfolding as a four-part finale event. The concluding episodes bring Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) and the Russo family together for a mission to rescue Alex (Selena Gomez), with several familiar faces from the original Wizards of Waverly Place returning to give longtime fans one final magical reunion.

The release differs depending on where viewers are watching. All four episodes premiere together on Disney Channel in the US on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, beginning at 8pm ET/PT. UK viewers will be able to stream the complete four-part event on Disney+ from Wednesday, 5 August.

Season 3 contains four episodes, and all of them will be available together rather than released weekly. Disney is presenting the episodes as one final event bringing the continuation series to a close. That means Disney+ viewers can watch the entire final adventure without waiting between episodes. All episodes from the first two seasons are also available to stream now, giving fans time to catch up before the finale arrives.

What Is Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Season 3 About?

The official synopsis reads: “Billie, still reeling from losing Alex at the end of Season 2, discovers that the only way to rescue her mother is to reunite with her long-lost father. As her family bands together to find Alex, Billie realises that their combined power is the only way the Russos can defeat the evil plaguing them.”

The four episodes will therefore continue the Season 2 cliffhanger rather than beginning an entirely separate storyline. With Alex missing and a new threat closing in on the Russos, Billie must bring the family together for their final battle.

Is Selena Gomez Returning as Alex Russo?

Selena Gomez will return as Alex Russo across multiple episodes of the final season. She also makes her directorial debut with the opening episode, adding another role to her long history with the franchise as its original star and an executive producer of the continuation series.

David Henrie returns as Justin Russo, with Janice LeAnn Brown as Billie, Alkaio Thiele as Roman, Max Matenko as Milo, Taylor Cora as Winter and Mimi Gianopulos as Giada.

Brandon Micheal Hall joins the finale as Billie’s father, Damien Penwulf. Maria Canals-Barrera is also back as Theresa Russo, bringing another member of the original Russo family into the final story.

Which Original Wizards of Waverly Place Characters Are Returning?

The final episodes include the return of Jennifer Stone as Harper Finkle and Gregg Sulkin as Mason Greyback. Their appearances were shown in the official trailer, giving fans their first look at Alex’s best friend and former werewolf boyfriend in the continuation series. Harper and Mason join Alex, Justin and Theresa among the returning characters from the original Disney Channel series. Their involvement makes the four-part finale a larger reunion between both generations of the franchise rather than focusing only on the newer Russo household. Ramon Reed also appears as Silas Evilini, with Tobias Jelinek playing Lord Morsus.

Why Is Season 3 Only Four Episodes?

Disney announced the final season as a four-part event rather than another full run of episodes. It was described as “one last spell” when production was confirmed, making clear that the episodes were designed to conclude the story rather than launch a longer third season.

The shorter format should allow the series to focus entirely on rescuing Alex, introducing Billie’s father and bringing the Russo family together for its final confrontation. It also gives the returning original characters a place in the farewell without separating the conclusion across a longer weekly rollout.

For CultureCues, seeing Harper and Mason return immediately makes the final event feel even more special, especially with Selena Gomez appearing in multiple episodes and directing for the first time. Four episodes may not feel like enough, but many fans had feared the story would be left unfinished, so this final event should at least resolve the cliffhanger and give the series the farewell it deserves. Bringing the original cast together with the newer generation also adds plenty of nostalgia. We are ready for one last trip beyond Waverly Place. The magic may be ending, but this family still knows how to cast a spell.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Season 3 arrives in full on Disney+ on 5 August 2026.
