If you watched the first two episodes of Trigger Point Season 4 across Sunday and Monday night, you might be wondering where Episode 3 is tonight. Vicky McClure’s ITV thriller opened with two episodes on consecutive nights, but the series is now taking a short break before Lana Washington returns this weekend.

When Is Trigger Point Season 4 Back On?

Trigger Point Season 4 returns with Episode 3 on Sunday, 6 September at 9pm on ITV1 and STV, followed by Episode 4 the very next night. The same pattern continues the following week, meaning there are only four more television broadcasts before the Season 4 finale on Monday, 14 September.

Viewers who do not want to wait can already stream the full six-episode season on ITVX and STV Player.

What Is the Trigger Point Season 4 Episode Schedule?

There are six episodes in Season 4, with the final four airing across September.

Sunday, 30 August – Episode 1
Monday, 31 August – Episode 2
Sunday, 6 September – Episode 3
Monday, 7 September – Episode 4
Sunday, 13 September – Episode 5
Monday, 14 September – Episode 6, season finale

What Is Trigger Point Season 4 About?

Season 4 puts Lana and her explosives team on the front line alongside Counter Terrorism Command as London is hit by a series of devastating bombings.

The attackers are among the most dangerous adversaries Lana has faced, sending the team into a race to identify those responsible and prevent further casualties. As the investigation develops, however, questions begin to emerge within the operation itself, with people close to Lana hiding secrets of their own.

The new series follows another successful run for the ITV drama. The first three seasons have been streamed 91 million times and reached more than 20 million viewers across ITV and ITVX. Season 3 averaged seven million viewers, with its opening episode attracting 7.4 million.

What Happens in the Remaining Trigger Point Episodes?

Slight spoilers ahead for Episodes 3 to 6.

Episode 3 follows a breakthrough in the Counter Terror investigation that takes Lana and the team to a disused workshop. They hope to uncover information about the bombers’ next move, but instead discover that another plan is already underway.

Episode 4 takes the investigation to a private airfield after new information points towards an imminent attack. Lana is forced to act quickly, but what she discovers is not what the team expected and comes with serious consequences.

By Episode 5, Counter Terror is following increasingly limited leads while also dealing with problems within its own ranks. The disappearance of a colleague adds another complication before Lana and the team find themselves in another dangerous situation.

The finale then puts Lana against the clock as the bombers’ final plan threatens thousands, potentially hundreds of thousands, of lives. With enemies surrounding her and the possibility of devastating collateral damage, she is pushed to her limits one final time.

For CultureCues, the first two episodes have certainly wasted no time getting Season 4 started, and we are already very invested in finding out where this investigation goes next. Vicky McClure continues to be brilliant as Lana, and with the threat getting bigger across the remaining episodes, we have a feeling the next two weeks are going to be pretty tense. Thankfully, anyone who cannot wait until Sunday has the entire series sitting on ITVX and STV Player already, although resisting that binge might be another challenge entirely.

Trigger Point Season 4 returns with Episode 3 on Sunday, 6 September at 9pm on ITV1 and STV.
