Toy Story 5 officially has a Disney+ release date, with Disney confirming that the latest Pixar sequel will begin streaming in the UK on Wednesday, 23 September 2026. The film originally arrived in cinemas in June and has since grossed more than $1.1 billion worldwide, making it one of the biggest releases of the year. Now, anyone who missed Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest of the gang on the big screen will not have too much longer to wait before they can watch at home.
Disney has also released a new trailer tied to the streaming launch, alongside a new piano-version music video for Taylor Swift’s original Toy Story 5 song, I Knew It, I Knew You. The track was written and produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff and was inspired by Jessie’s story, marking a return to Swift’s country roots.
When Is Toy Story 5 Coming to Disney+?
Toy Story 5 will be available to stream on Disney+ in the UK from Wednesday, 23 September 2026. The date lands just under 100 days after the film’s cinema release, putting it broadly in line with Disney’s recent theatrical-to-streaming windows.
The film will join the first four Toy Story movies, along with a range of shorts and specials already available on Disney+, making September a very good time for a full franchise rewatch.
What Is Toy Story 5 About?
Disney and Pixar’s fifth Toy Story film brings Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the toys face-to-face with a new threat to playtime: technology. The official story sees Bonnie receive Lilypad, a brand-new frog-shaped tablet voiced by Greta Lee, whose arrival completely changes the balance of Bonnie’s room.
Tom Hanks returns as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear and Joan Cusack as Jessie, with Tony Hale back as Forky. Greta Lee joins the franchise as Lilypad, with Conan O’Brien voicing Smarty Pants and Craig Robinson playing Atlas. Annie Potts returns as Bo Peep, John Ratzenberger as Hamm, Wallace Shawn as Rex and Blake Clark as Slinky Dog, with Bad Bunny and Alan Cumming also appearing in voice cameos.
How Does Woody Return in Toy Story 5?
After leaving Bonnie’s room at the end of Toy Story 4, Woody has stayed in contact with Jessie and the rest of the toys. When he learns that his old friends may be in trouble, he heads back to help, bringing him together with Buzz and the gang once again.
The film is directed by Academy Award winner Andrew Stanton and co-directed by Kenna Harris. Stanton has a long history with Pixar and the Toy Story franchise, making his return behind the camera another major part of the fifth film.
Where Can You Watch the Other Toy Story Films?
All four previous Toy Story movies are already on Disney+, along with shorts and specials. That gives viewers plenty of time to revisit the franchise before Toy Story 5 arrives in September.
