Apple TV has confirmed that The Morning Show will come to an end with its fifth season in 2027, bringing one of the streaming service’s original flagship dramas to a planned conclusion.

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon will return as Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson, as well as continuing as executive producers. Apple also released the first images from the final season alongside the announcement, showing the pair back together ahead of the newsroom drama’s last chapter.

Aniston said the final season was shaped with a clear ending in mind, allowing the team to give the characters a proper conclusion. “Going in knowing it would be our last, we were so fortunate to craft the conclusion with intentionality, and honour these characters the way they deserve,” she explained, while also praising the cast, writers, producers and crew who have worked on the series since its launch.

Witherspoon described her time producing and starring in The Morning Show as “the honour of a lifetime”. She added: “This was always more than a show about a newsroom. It was a show about why the newsroom matters. About freedom of the press, and the journalists who protect the fourth estate, often at great cost.” She also called telling that story “the creative privilege” of her career.

The Morning Show was among the first original series to launch Apple TV in 2019 and has since earned Emmy, SAG and Critics Choice Awards. Across its four seasons so far, the drama has explored newsroom politics, corporate power, the changing media landscape and the personal cost of reporting the truth.

Season 4 moved the story into spring 2024 following the UBA-NBN merger, with the newsroom facing deepfakes, conspiracy theories, corporate cover-ups and questions over who could still be trusted. The cast expanded with Aaron Pierre, William Jackson Harper, Boyd Holbrook, Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons.

The final season will also bring back Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie and Jon Hamm. New additions include Jeff Daniels, Reneé Rapp, Jesse Williams, Sean Hayes and Lizzy Caplan, giving the series another packed ensemble for its final run.

For CultureCues, this feels like the right time to bring The Morning Show to an end. Aniston and Witherspoon have led the series from the beginning, and the returning cast alongside the major new additions gives Season 5 every chance to deliver a strong final chapter. Knowing the ending has been planned in advance is especially good news, because there is nothing worse than a long-running series finishing with unresolved storylines or characters left without the conclusion they deserve. After five seasons, we are ready for one last round of secrets, power struggles and newsroom drama.

The Morning Show Season 5 will premiere on Apple TV in 2027.
