BookTok, the wait is almost over. The Love Hypothesis arrives on Prime Video this week, bringing Ali Hazelwood’s bestselling romance to the screen with Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman as Olive and Adam. The adaptation has been one of the most anticipated romance releases for fans of the novel, and there are now only a couple of days left before we finally get to see fake dating, academia and one of BookTok’s favourite couples make the jump from page to screen.

The Love Hypothesis will be released globally on Prime Video on Wednesday, 23 September. The film will be available exclusively through Prime Video, including in the UK. Prime has not announced a specific UK release time, so for now the important date to have in the diary is 23 September.

What Is The Love Hypothesis About?

Lili Reinhart stars as Olive, a PhD candidate focused on building her future in academia. When she realises her best friend Ahn has feelings for Olive’s crush Jeremy, she impulsively kisses intimidating professor Adam Carlsen, played by Tom Bateman, in an attempt to prove she has moved on.

That spontaneous kiss soon turns into a fake relationship complete with rules, boundaries and an arrangement that benefits them both. Naturally, pretending to be together becomes a little more complicated once the line between fake and real feelings starts becoming harder to ignore.

Who Is in The Love Hypothesis Cast?

Lili Reinhart leads the film as Olive, with Tom Bateman playing Adam Carlsen. Rachel Marsh stars as Olive’s best friend Ahn, while Nicholas Duvernay plays Jeremy. Claire Scanlon directs the adaptation from a screenplay by Sarah Rothschild, based on Ali Hazelwood’s novel.

For CultureCues, we have been waiting for this one for a while and now it is finally only days away. The Love Hypothesisis such a BookTok staple, so there is a lot riding on Olive and Adam making the jump to screen, but Lili Reinhart already feels like such a good choice for Olive. She has also been absolutely slaying the promo for this film and looking genuinely ethereal every single time, which is only making the wait harder. Tom Bateman felt like perfect casting for Adam too, and we cannot wait to find out whether the film gives us the same butterflies as the book. Consider the hypothesis officially under review.
