Disney+ has released the official trailer for the fifth and final season of FX’s The Bear, with all eight episodes set to premiere in the UK on Friday, 26 June. The critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning series returns exclusively on Disney+ in the UK, bringing Carmy, Sydney, Richie, Sugar and the rest of the team back for one last service as the story reaches its emotional conclusion.
The final season picks up the morning after Sydney Adamu, played by Ayo Edebiri, Richard “Richie” Jerimovich, played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto, played by Abby Elliott, discover that Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, played by Jeremy Allen White, has quit the food industry. With the restaurant now left to them, the team must deal with no money, the threat of a sale and a torrential storm standing in their way. As they pull together for one final service, they hope to finally earn a Michelin star.
According to Disney+, the season will also explore what actually makes a restaurant “perfect”, with the answer perhaps lying less in the food itself and more in the people behind it. The half-hour series also stars Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas and Matty Matheson, with Ricky Staffieri, Oliver Platt, Will Poulter and Jamie Lee Curtis returning in recurring roles.
Created by Christopher Storer, The Bear has become one of the defining TV shows of recent years because it understands that the restaurant is only part of the story. Beneath the rush of service and the pressure to be excellent, the series has always been about grief, loyalty and people trying to build something meaningful without completely falling apart.
For CultureCues, this is one of the most anticipated final seasons of the year. The Bear has always balanced restaurant pressure with personal stakes, and Carmy walking away from the industry gives the final run a huge emotional starting point. With Sydney, Richie and Sugar left to hold things together, this last season already sounds like essential viewing. One last service? We will be watching, chef.
The Bear season 5 premieres exclusively on Disney+ in the UK on 26 June, with all eight episodes available at launch.
