Taskmaster has revealed the celebrity line-up for its upcoming New Year Treat, with Alison Hammond, Francis Bourgeois and Rob Rinder among the famous faces preparing to take on Greg Davies and Alex Horne’s ridiculous challenges. The popular Channel 4 comedy show will return over the festive season, bringing together five celebrities from the worlds of television, music and broadcasting for a special New Year competition.
Joining This Morning and The Great British Bake Off presenter Alison Hammond will be singer Chesney Hawkes, best known for his hit song “The One and Only”, alongside railway enthusiast and viral social media star Francis Bourgeois, who has recently joined Prime Video’s The Grand Tour as a presenter.
Completing the line-up are BBC News presenter Maryam Moshiri and barrister-turned-television personality Rob Rinder, best known for his courtroom series Judge Rinder. The five contestants will face a series of unusual challenges, with Greg Davies judging their efforts and Little Alex Horne overseeing proceedings.
As always, the celebrities will be competing for the coveted Taskmaster New Year Treat Trophy, a rather fetching set of Greg’s Golden Eyebrows. Only one contestant will walk away victorious, although they’ll first have to survive whatever bizarre tasks Alex has prepared for them.
The festive special is expected to air as a double-helping on Channel 4 over the Christmas and New Year period, although an official broadcast date and time have yet to be confirmed.
For CultureCues, we love a bit of Taskmaster, and this is a great mix of celebrities. We’re especially looking forward to seeing Alison Hammond take on the challenges, because you just know she’ll have us in stitches. It’ll also be fun to see how Rob Rinder handles Greg’s judging, especially when he’s used to being the one handing down the verdicts. We have a feeling this lot will make for a hilarious New Year special.
Taskmaster’s New Year Treat returns to Channel 4 over the festive season.
