A24 has released the official trailer for Slayground, the new horror thriller from Green Room director Jeremy Saulnier, and this one has quite the setup. Cory Michael Smith stars as “Metal Mike” Graves, a performer working at a haunted attraction who wakes up on 24 October covered in blood and surrounded by his dead colleagues. He has no memory of what happened, but quickly becomes the prime suspect and escapes police custody as a manhunt begins.
Mike goes on the run trying to piece together what happened inside the attraction and prove he did not kill everyone around him. The problem is that the more he uncovers, the more the evidence appears to point back towards him.
The film was previously developed under the title October before becoming Slayground, taking its new name from the haunted attraction at the centre of the story. Saulnier both writes and directs, marking his return to horror after Green Room, alongside his more recent Netflix thriller Rebel Ridge.
Smith leads a cast that also includes Chase Sui Wonders, Sophie Wilde, James Badge Dale, Stanley Simons, Stephen Root, Chris Sullivan, Young Mazino, Imogen Poots, Matty Matheson and Macon Blair. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have composed the score, which is another reason to keep an ear on this one when it arrives.

For CultureCues, this is definitely one we’ll be keeping an eye on. The teaser strikes the perfect balance of not giving too much away while still looking seriously creepy, and it has us hooked. It’s officially on our horror watchlist. Having Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross behind the score is another big plus. This really would have made the perfect Halloween movie, especially with the whole story kicking off on 24 October, but we’ll happily take it in January 2027.
Slayground opens in US cinemas on 29 January 2027. A UK release date has not yet been confirmed.
