Ray Winstone and Danny Dyer will appear together in a theatrical feature for the first time in upcoming British crime thriller Going Under. Production has now wrapped on the film, which was directed by David Beton from a screenplay written with David Garlick. Vertigo Releasing will bring Going Under to cinemas across the UK and Ireland in spring 2027.
Winstone stars as Riley, a veteran gangster attempting to complete one final major deal alongside his trusted right-hand man, Don, played by Dyer. The pair previously appeared together in the 2006 television film All in the Game, but Going Under marks their first collaboration on the big screen.
Lesley Sharp stars as Gilly, with Mickey Gooch (Primal), Daniel O’Reilly (The Last Heist), Mirabel Stuart, Parker Sawyers (The Mummy) and Ed Kingsley (Slow Horses) rounding out the cast.
Beton described the film as a personal story exploring family, loyalty and the lengths people will go to protect those closest to them. He said working with Winstone and Dyer had been a long-held ambition after growing up watching their performances. “Writing and directing a film starring Ray Winstone and Danny Dyer is something I’ve wanted to do for many years,” Beton said. “I’ve grown up watching their films and performances, so to now be working alongside two of the true titans of British cinema is an absolute honour.”
The film is produced by Tea Shop Productions’ James Harris alongside Ed Caffrey, Dominic Burns, Charley McDougal and Jason Maza for Sharp House. Essential Film Group is handling worldwide sales.
