The season of the witch is officially upon us. Warner Bros has released the full trailer for Practical Magic 2, reuniting Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as Sally and Gillian Owens. The sequel will arrive in cinemas on 11 September 2026, following the shorter teaser released in April.
Set 25 years after the original film, the sequel finds the Owens family facing the consequences of the curse that has followed its women for generations. When Sally’s daughter Kylie, played by Joey King, discovers the truth after her boyfriend is involved in an accident, she sets out to break it herself.
“We’re Owens women. Love is our undoing.”
The trailer takes Sally and Gillian to London as they follow Kylie’s attempt to undo the family curse. Their aunts, Jet and Frances, played by Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing, send them towards Ian Wright, played by Lee Pace, a mysterious scholar of the craft who may be able to help. Maisie Williams stars as Sally’s younger daughter Antonia, while Xolo Maridueña also joins the sequel.
Directed by Susanne Bier, Practical Magic 2 promises the return of midnight margaritas, family spells and the bond between Sally and Gillian that made the original such a beloved favourite. The trailer closes with Lana Del Rey’s rendition of “Season of the Witch”, an obvious but perfect song choice that instantly gets us in the mood for the Owens family’s return. Fans have already embraced the track, with many praising how well it fits the sequel’s atmosphere.
For CultureCues, the original Practical Magic has long been one of our favourite films, so seeing Bullock and Kidman together again already has us reaching for the midnight margaritas. The sequel brings the Owens family into a new generation while keeping Sally and Gillian’s bond at the centre of the story, and we cannot wait to return to this world. September cannot come quickly enough. Consider us completely under its spell.
