Netflix has renewed crime thriller Nemesis for a second season, confirming that Matthew Law and Y’lan Noel will return as Detective Isaiah Stiles and master thief Coltrane Wilder. Created by Courtney A. Kemp and Tani Marole, the series follows two men on opposite sides of the law as their lives become increasingly connected across Los Angeles. Season 2 will continue the pursuit after the first chapter ended with Stiles allowing Wilder to escape in order to save his son Noah.
The renewal follows a strong debut for the series, which arrived on Netflix in May and spent five weeks in the streamer’s global Top 10 for English-language television. It reached Number One during its second week.
Kemp credited the show’s audience for helping secure another season. “I feel blessed to get a Season 2,” she said. “We thank the fans, it’s because of them. There’s no other reason.” Marole promised that the next chapter will answer some of the questions left behind by the finale while opening the door to even more. “Make no mistake, Season 2 is going to be bigger and better,” she said.
The final episode left Stiles and Wilder’s rivalry very much unfinished. After Noah became caught between them, Stiles gave Wilder the chance to escape, only for the thief to leave him with one final message: “You were never gonna win!” Season 2 will now give Stiles the opportunity to respond as their cat-and-mouse chase continues through Los Angeles. Kemp and Marole have also said the conflict between them will become more complicated, with the story set to return in an unexpected way.
The creators are also hoping to explore more of the series’ female characters, including Charlie (Sophina Brown) and Ebony (Cleopatra Coleman), following interest from viewers in their backgrounds. New faces are expected to join the cast too, although further details have not yet been announced.
For CultureCues, this is very welcome news. We really enjoyed the first season, and Stiles and Wilder’s final confrontation made it clear that the chase was far from over. With more questions still to answer and new characters joining the story, we are ready to see where the pursuit takes them next.
Nemesis Season 2 will return to production soon. A release date has not yet been announced.
