A24 has released the official trailer for Misty Green, Chris Rock’s new Hollywood drama starring Rosalind Eleazar as an actress fighting for a second chance. Eleazar plays Misty Green, a once-promising performer whose career has stalled years after her breakthrough. The trailer follows Misty as she tries to push her way back into the industry, despite her agent warning that opportunities have dried up and a filmmaker from her past reminding her exactly why working with her can be difficult.
Chris Rock writes, directs and co-stars in the film, which marks his first feature behind the camera since Top Five in 2014. The supporting cast includes Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick and Topher Grace, giving the Hollywood comeback story a seriously impressive line-up.
The trailer blends comedy with a more bruised look at fame and starting over, as Misty tries to convince the people around her, and perhaps herself, that she still has another act in her. Eleazar, known for Slow Horses and Missing You, takes centre stage in what looks set to be one of her biggest film roles yet.
For CultureCues, this looks like a very fun return for Chris Rock as a filmmaker. Rosalind Eleazar looks brilliant in the lead, while the stacked supporting cast and messy Hollywood setting give us plenty to be curious about. We are ready to see exactly how Misty fights her way back.
Misty Green arrives in cinemas this October.
