Jeremy Clarkson is returning to his motoring roots for a brand-new Clarkson’s Farm special, and his latest Diddly Squat project might be one of his most ambitious yet. Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson’s Farm Special will follow Clarkson as he attempts to grow and build his own car using produce from the farm. Prime Video is billing the project as a world first, with the standalone special arriving in 2027.

Clarkson has spent the past five seasons trying his hand at growing everything from wheat and barley to potatoes, mushrooms and wasabi. This time, however, he is turning his attention back to cars, using a Jaguar F-Type V6S as the starting point for a vehicle that will feature materials produced at Diddly Squat itself.

What Is Jeremy Grows a Car About?

Frustrated by modern motoring, Clarkson has decided that rather than buying himself a new car, he wants to build one. His chosen starting point is the Jaguar F-Type V6S, which he considers a good balance between an analogue driving experience and modern practicality.

This will not be a straightforward restoration. Clarkson plans to use Diddly leather for the interior and wool for the carpets, as well as growing flax fibre at the farm and turning it into a flax-composite that can be used on the vehicle. The material is being explored as a more sustainable alternative to carbon fibre and has already attracted interest from major car manufacturers.

The project takes something Clarkson has spent years learning about through Clarkson’s Farm and applies it to the world where viewers first knew him best. Instead of crops ending up as food or produce from the farm, this time they will become part of an actual car.

Ian Callum Joins Jeremy Clarkson for the Build

Clarkson will not be redesigning the Jaguar alone. Car designer Ian Callum CBE, founder of design and engineering company CALLUM, will join him for the project and help develop the finished vehicle.

Callum designed the original Jaguar F-Type as well as the Aston Martin Vanquish, making his involvement especially fitting given the car Clarkson has chosen for the build. Together, they will rework the F-Type using Clarkson’s home-grown materials, with the aim of creating something that still delivers the style, luxury and performance he associates with Jaguar.

When Is Jeremy Grows a Car Released?

Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson’s Farm Special will be released exclusively on Prime Video in 2027, although an exact date has not yet been announced. The special will be available in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. There is also more Clarkson’s Farm on the way, with Season 6 due to arrive in 2027. The first five seasons are currently available to stream on Prime Video.

At CultureCues, we love Clarkson’s Farm, so we are looking forward to this one-off special. Jeremy trying to actually grow parts of a car at Diddly Squat is such a mad idea, and it is nice to see him heading back into the motoring world without leaving the farm behind. Having Ian Callum involved should also make the finished car pretty interesting to see, assuming Jeremy actually manages to get there. We’ll definitely be watching when this arrives next year.
