JADE has teamed up with Hans Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers Music for a new original song created especially for the launch of Blue Planet III. The BRIT Award-winning and Mercury Prize-nominated singer-songwriter features on “Into The Deep (Seas Cry)”, written by JADE, Zimmer and Thom Lukas of Bleeding Fingers Music. The track received its first play on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show with Greg James this morning and will accompany the first extended trailer for Blue Planet III, which premieres tonight at 7pm across BBC Earth and BBC social channels.

The collaboration arrives ahead of the return of the BBC’s landmark natural history series this autumn, 25 years after the original The Blue Planet first aired. Sir David Attenborough will once again narrate the series, with Hans Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers Music providing the original score and soundtrack.

JADE on Creating Into The Deep for Blue Planet III

JADE has spoken about how much being involved with Blue Planet III means to her after growing up watching the series and continuing to follow it as an adult. “I’ve been a huge fan of Blue Planet for many years and have so many memories of watching the show throughout both childhood and adulthood,” she said. “Sir David Attenborough is a true hero of mine. Being part of Blue Planet III in this way feels incredibly special and a real privilege.”

She added that she was “so proud” of “Into The Deep (Seas Cry)” and described working with Zimmer and his team as an amazing experience. The track features lyrics by Jade Thirlwall, Pablo Bowman and Fin Dow-Smith, and will be available to stream and download globally from 7pm tonight.

JADE Joins Blue Planet’s History of Major Music Collaborations

“Into The Deep (Seas Cry)” continues a long-running partnership between Hans Zimmer, Bleeding Fingers Music and the BBC Studios Natural History Unit, which has previously brought major artists into the launch campaigns for some of the BBC’s biggest nature series.

Radiohead worked on music for Blue Planet II, while later collaborations have included Sia, RAYE, Camila Cabello and SEVENTEEN. This time, JADE’s vocals are being paired with Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers’ score to accompany the first proper look at the new series.

Thom Lukas said the team wanted the song to capture the contrast of life beneath the ocean, from its light and beauty to the darker and more powerful moments shown across the series.

What Is Blue Planet III About?

Blue Planet III will return to oceans around the world to explore marine environments and the animals living within them, using new technology to film areas and behaviour that remain difficult to observe. The six-part series comes 25 years after the original The Blue Planet changed the scale of natural history television, with Sir David Attenborough returning as narrator. The BBC says the new episodes will focus on some of the planet’s most important and least understood marine environments, with the latest filming technology being used throughout production.

The series will also remember composer George Fenton, who created the score for the original Blue Planet and worked extensively with the BBC Natural History Unit across programmes including The Trials of Life and Frozen Planet.

When Is Blue Planet III on BBC One?

Blue Planet III will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this autumn, although an exact launch date has not yet been announced. The first extended trailer will be released tonight, Tuesday 6 October, at 7pm, alongside the global release of JADE and Hans Zimmer’s “Into The Deep (Seas Cry)”.

For CultureCues, we love JADE, so seeing her join Hans Zimmer and the Blue Planet team for this year’s track is such a brilliant choice. Zimmer’s music has become such a big part of these BBC natural history series, and adding JADE to that mix should make this one really special. We also love that she has such a genuine connection to Blue Planet and David Attenborough herself, which makes the collaboration feel even more personal. We’ll absolutely be tuning in for the trailer tonight, and we are very ready to see what Blue Planet III has in store when it arrives this autumn.

“Into The Deep (Seas Cry)” is released globally at 7pm tonight, with Blue Planet III coming to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this autumn.
