Gogglebox Series 28 has started on Channel 4, with the new run beginning on Friday, 4 September at 9pm. The BAFTA-winning series is back in its usual Friday night slot, with two new households joining the cast alongside the familiar families, couples and friends watching the week’s biggest television moments from their sofas.

Among the new additions are north London mother and son Sandy and Max, with 33-year-old Max becoming the first Gogglebox cast member with Down’s syndrome. Newcastle brothers Steve and Mark have also joined the programme for Series 28, bringing another new household into the mix.

When Is Gogglebox Series 28 On?

Gogglebox Series 28 airs on Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4, with episodes also available to stream through Channel 4. The new series began on Friday, 4 September and is expected to continue in its usual weekly Friday night slot throughout the autumn. Channel 4 has not confirmed the complete episode count or final date for Series 28, so there is no official finale date at this stage. We will update the schedule once further transmission details are confirmed.

Who Are the New Gogglebox Cast Members?

Sandy, 62, joins the programme with her son Max, 33, from north London. Sandy said appearing alongside Max would be “total magic” and hopes viewers will see his humour, intelligence and strong opinions rather than making assumptions about people with learning disabilities.

Max is already a big television fan, with Glee, Gavin & Stacey, Amandaland, The Hit List and The Grand Tour among the programmes he enjoys. He also joked that he is funnier than his mum and said he wants to show other learning-disabled people what they can achieve.

The pair will also have their identical tabby cats Boogie and Pilgrim nearby, named after an Elton John song.

Newcastle brothers Steve, 44, and Mark, 46, make up the second new household. The pair usually watch Newcastle United matches and boxing together, although Mark admits Steve is normally the one shouting at the television. Their family already had one request before filming began: try not to swear too much. Mark, however, made no promises.

Which Gogglebox Families Are Returning?

The latest additions join the established Gogglebox cast, including several households introduced last year. Those additions included Jake and Calum from Glasgow, the Gordon family from Surrey, Andrew and Alfie from the Cotswolds, Sara and Lara from Yorkshire, and Rosie and Susie from Edinburgh.

Craig Cash continues to narrate the main series, which first launched in 2013 and has since become one of Channel 4’s longest-running entertainment shows.
