Paramount+ has renewed Dutton Ranch for a second season while the first is still airing. The Yellowstone continuation stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, with the Season 1 finale set to stream on 3 July. It looks as though Beth and Rip will be calling Texas home for a while longer, although peace on the ranch is clearly still a long way off.

The series follows Beth and Rip as they build a new life in South Texas, where trouble with a neighbouring ranch threatens their future. Finn Little returns as Carter, alongside Ed Harris, Annette Bening, Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, Marc Menchaca and Natalie Alyn Lind.

Season 1 premiered on 15 May and drew 12.9 million viewers globally during its first seven days, making it the biggest original series launch in Paramount+ history. The early renewal therefore comes as little surprise, although story details and a premiere date for Season 2 have not yet been announced.

“Beth and Rip are among the most iconic duos in television history,” said Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals at Paramount+, adding that the streamer was thrilled to continue building their new world.

For CultureCues, Beth and Rip have always been one of the strongest parts of the Yellowstone universe, so it is no surprise that viewers followed them to Texas. Their fresh start was never going to stay peaceful for long, and it now looks as though the Dutton drama will continue well beyond the first season.

New episodes of Dutton Ranch stream Fridays on Paramount+. The season 1 finale will air on 3 July.
