Netflix’s new reality series Calabasas Confidential is now streaming, with all eight episodes of Season 1 available from 29 May. The series follows a group of Calabasas High School alums as they return home after college, where old relationships, unresolved drama and unexpected secrets resurface.
Set in one of Los Angeles’ most talked-about suburbs, the show centres on a group of lifelong friends, exes and rivals who are back living in their parents’ hillside mansions after four years apart. Fresh out of college, they are faced with the awkward reality of figuring out what comes next while dealing with the people and problems they thought they had left behind. The Season 1 cast includes Alexie Olivo, Ben Favaedi, Dylan Wolf, Emilie Nelson, Emma Medrano, Hercy Miller, Jemma Durrant, Jodie Woods, Kimora Lewis, Nicole Sahebi, Preston Pippen, Raine Michaels, Sterling Retzlaff and Suede Brooks.
The series leans into the world of sun-soaked parties, gated estates, beach days and complicated hometown dynamics, with the group forced to face who they were in high school and who they are becoming now. In true reality TV fashion, four years of distance does not mean the drama has disappeared… it has been waiting behind the gates of LA’s most envied zip code.
For CultureCues, Calabasas Confidential looks like easy reality TV viewing in the best way. We will happily sit with our popcorn, watch the drama and tension unfold, and probably end up rooting for a few romances between past exes who may not be quite as over each other as they think.
