Netflix has released the first trailer for Black Rabbit, its upcoming limited series starring Jude Law and Jason Bateman, and it is already clear that the series is putting family loyalty under serious pressure, with old wounds and high-stakes trouble colliding.
Set in New York’s nightlife world, Black Rabbit follows estranged brothers Jake and Vince, played by Law and Bateman, whose relationship is pulled back into focus when Vince returns with a major debt problem that threatens far more than just his own future. Jake is trying to keep his restaurant and VIP lounge afloat, but the trailer makes it clear that his brother’s mess could put the entire business on the line.
The footage leans into the strain between them, with Vince admitting he should have said something sooner and Jake left trying to negotiate a way out before things spiral further. Alongside the threat hanging over the Black Rabbit itself, the trailer also hints at old wounds, financial pressure and a bond that may be just as risky as it is unbreakable.
The cast also includes Cleopatra Coleman, Amaka Okafor, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Troy Kotsur, Abbey Lee, Chris Coy, Dagmara Dominczyk, Odessa Young and Robin De Jesus.
For CultureCues, Black Rabbit looks like one to keep an eye on, with Law and Bateman leading a thriller that seems as interested in fractured brotherhood as it is in the danger closing in around it, while the first trailer points to a tense, fast-moving story full of divided loyalties and mounting trouble.
Black Rabbit premieres on Netflix on 18 September.
