Action Xtreme has released a new teaser and artwork for Bad Day at the Office, the first-person action thriller starring John Hannah, Radha Mitchell, Tamer Hassan and Lana Parrilla. The film will have its world premiere on 13 August as the opening title in the Edinburgh International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness strand. It will then arrive in UK and Irish cinemas on 30 October 2026.
Festival producer Emma Boa described the film as an ultra-violent and darkly funny thrill ride, calling it “the ultimate Midnight Madness experience.”
Shot entirely from a first-person perspective using GoPro cameras, Bad Day at the Office places viewers directly inside every fight, chase and explosion. The action is shown through the eyes of its protagonists and antagonists, combining the pace of a first-person shooter with a feature-length conspiracy thriller.
John Hannah stars as Karl, who wakes inside a wrecked hotel room with no memory of what happened, where he is or even who he is. After discovering a dead body in his bathtub and two police officers outside the door, he is pushed into a dangerous chain of events with hotel maid Molly, played by Radha Mitchell.
With a price on his head and half the city pursuing them, Karl must recover the skills he has forgotten as he and Molly attempt to uncover the truth behind his missing memories. The teaser offers an early look at the film’s fights, gunfire and first-person chases as the pair are pulled deeper into the conspiracy. The cast also includes Tamer Hassan, Lana Parrilla, Tim Fellingham, Roxanne McKee, Branko Tomović and Victor Gardener.
Scottish audiences will have another chance to experience the film during a special 4DX screening at Cineworld Fountainbridge on Wednesday, 19 August. The format will add movement, sound, scents and other environmental effects to the first-person action, making it a rare 4DX presentation for a UK film festival.
Chee Keong Cheung directs from a screenplay written with Oliver Morran. Cheung also produces alongside Andreas Roald and Ioanna Karavela. The film has a runtime of 111 minutes, with its BBFC classification still to be confirmed.

The new teaser promises relentless action without losing the mystery surrounding Karl’s identity. This may be a bad day at the office, but it looks like a very good night at the cinema.
