A24 has released a new teaser for Backrooms, giving audiences another unsettling look at Kane Parsons’ horror adaptation ahead of its cinema release on 29 May 2026. The film is based on Parsons’ viral Backrooms web series, itself rooted in the wider creepypasta mythology that turned empty yellow corridors, liminal spaces and found-footage dread into an internet horror phenomenon.

The new teaser widens the nightmare, moving beyond the familiar yellow-wall imagery to reveal poolrooms and other strange zones within the Backrooms. The footage suggests a larger mystery taking shape, as the impossible space begins to pull more people into its endless, disorientating world.

Chiwetel Ejiofor stars as Clark, a furniture store owner whose discovery of a doorway to another dimension sets the story in motion. Renate Reinsve plays Dr Mary Kline, his therapist, who enters the unknown after he disappears. The cast also includes Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, Lukita Maxwell and Avan Jogia.

For A24, Backrooms already looks like one of the year’s more intriguing horror releases. Internet horror adaptations can be tricky to pull off, but Parsons’ original concept has always had a simple, horrible hook: what if the spaces we ignore every day were hiding somewhere much worse?

Backrooms opens in cinemas on 29 May 2026.
