Apple TV has renewed Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars for an eight-part second season, following the BAFTA Award-nominated docuseries’ first run on the streamer. The series is executive produced by Gordon Ramsay and Studio Ramsay Global, with Topjaw’s Jesse Burgess returning as host. The series explores the high-pressure world of international fine dining, following elite chefs and restaurants across the year-long Michelin Guide season as they attempt to win, keep or avoid losing one of the industry’s most prestigious awards. Season one is now streaming globally on Apple TV.

Ramsay said restaurants around the world are under “enormous pressure” not only to strive for perfection, but to survive, adding that Knife Edge reveals the stress and resilience required in the pursuit of Michelin recognition. Burgess also described the series as a way of platforming the people behind world-class restaurants and showing what it takes to survive in such a demanding industry.

The Michelin Star remains one of the most sought-after honours in food, with chefs facing the possibility of gaining their first star, pushing for a second or third, or losing the recognition they have already fought to earn. That built-in jeopardy is a big part of the series’ appeal, giving viewers a chef’s-eye view of the pressure behind the plates. Knife edge by name, knife edge by nature, really.

Season one featured restaurants including Aure, which Apple describes as the Nordics’ fastest-ever Michelin Star win since opening, New York fried chicken restaurant Coqodaq, and Caractère, where the Roux family dynasty continued its own pursuit of Michelin recognition.

The first season also quickly achieved a 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and was nominated in the Factual Entertainment category at the 2026 BAFTA Television Awards. Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars is produced for Apple TV by Studio Ramsay Global, a Fox Entertainment Company.

For CultureCues, this renewal makes complete sense. Food documentaries work best when they go beyond pretty dishes and into the ambition, fear and obsessive standards behind them. Knife Edge has that built-in pressure cooker element, where every service could be a step towards glory or the moment everything starts to slip. If season one gave viewers plenty to chew on, season two sounds like exactly what we ordered.

A release date for season two has not yet been announced.
