The flock is officially heading back to the big screen. Paramount has released the first trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3, with Jason Sudeikis returning as Red alongside Josh Gad, Danny McBride and Rachel Bloom. The new adventure arrives in cinemas on 23 December 2026.

This time, Red is facing a challenge even more difficult than saving Bird Island: fatherhood. The trailer introduces Red and Silver’s children, voiced by Emma Myers, Walker Scobell and Psalm West, as the temperamental bird attempts to balance family life with another world-threatening adventure. “I’m a professional, full-time parent,” Red declares in the trailer. “It’s my new job.”

Gad returns as Chuck, with McBride back as Bomb and Bloom reprising her role as Silver. The sequel also brings in a substantial new voice cast, including Keke Palmer, Lily James, Tim Robinson, Anna Cathcart, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Nikki Glaser and Marcello Hernández. Sam Richardson, James Austin Johnson, MrBeast and Salish Matter are also among those joining the franchise.

John Rice returns to direct after working on The Angry Birds Movie 2, with Thurop Van Orman writing the screenplay. The film is produced by Rovio Entertainment and Sega alongside Prime Focus Studios.

The Angry Birds Movie franchise began in 2016 with the first film, which followed a group of flightless birds as they dealt with the sudden arrival of the pigs. A sequel followed in 2019, with the two films earning more than $500 million worldwide.

For CultureCues, the new trailer looks funny and full of the fast-paced energy we expect from Angry Birds. The expanded voice cast is also seriously impressive, and with its festive release date, this already feels like a fun family cinema trip for Christmas. Popcorn at the ready!

The Angry Birds Movie 3 will open in cinemas on 23 December 2026.
