Amandaland has officially been renewed for a third series, with the hit BBC comedy set to return to BBC iPlayer and BBC One. The award-winning Motherland spin-off stars Lucy Punch as Amanda, alongside Joanna Lumley as Felicity and Philippa Dunne as Anne.
The new commission follows the show’s BAFTA Television Awards win for Best Scripted Comedy, as well as a record-breaking Christmas special and the recent launch of series two. Amanda may still be working on her super-influencer status, but Amandaland is already a proper BBC comedy hit.
Produced by Merman, Amandaland has become one of the BBC’s biggest comedy performers of the last few years. Series one averaged five million viewers across 28 days, while the show has continued to grow with younger audiences too. The 2025 Christmas special also became the UK’s top comedy episode of the year, drawing an audience of 7.4 million across 28 days.
The series follows Amanda, the self-appointed queen of SoHa, as she attempts to build her profile as a super influencer while juggling her increasingly grown-up children and her mother Felicity, who remains magnificently unwilling to acknowledge the passing of time. Amanda’s goal, as ever, is simple: achieve a Chiswick lifestyle on a Harlesden budget.
Series two, which launched on BBC iPlayer last week, introduced a possible romantic spark between Amanda and fellow divorcee Mal, played by Samuel Anderson. It also brought in Mal’s ex, Abs, played by Harriet Webb, while Philippa Dunne’s Anne remained Amanda’s loyal, exhausted and endlessly put-upon best friend.
Co-writer and creator Holly Walsh and co-writer Laurence Rickard said: “We are thrilled to be heading back to SoHa for a third series of Amandaland and delighted the show has found the sort of audience that Amanda’s Instagram account could only dream of. We are already priming our keyboards to prompt AI into creating another batch of scripts and can’t wait to be reunited with our incredible cast and crew.”
Seb Barwell, BBC Comedy Commissioning Editor, added: “Amanda and friends continue to capture the hearts of the nation, so we’re delighted to announce a third series and to keep up our ‘co-lab’ with this amazing team.”
The third series will consist of six 30-minute episodes. A release date has not yet been confirmed.
For CultureCues, this is exactly the kind of renewal we love to see. Amandaland has taken one of Motherland’s funniest characters and given her room to be even more ridiculous, more ambitious and somehow even more relatable. Lucy Punch is brilliant as Amanda, making every awkward social climb and influencer dream feel painfully funny, while Joanna Lumley’s Felicity remains a scene-stealer with one raised eyebrow. Basically, we’re very ready for another trip to SoHa.
Amandaland series one and two are available now on BBC iPlayer, with series three on the way.
