The final trailer for Dune: Part Three has arrived, giving us our biggest look yet at Denis Villeneuve’s final trip to Arrakis before the film arrives in cinemas this December. Timothée Chalamet returns as Emperor Paul Atreides alongside Zendaya as Chani. Set nearly two decades after Paul took control of the Imperium, the film finds him dealing with the consequences of his reign as enemies close in and a new conspiracy begins to unfold around him.
One of the biggest moments in the trailer is our first proper look at Paul and Chani’s children, Leto II and Ghanima, played by Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke. It is a big change from where we left Paul and Chani in Dune: Part Two, and makes the time jump between the films very clear.

Robert Pattinson also gets more screen time as Scytale, a Face Dancer connected to the Bene Tleilax, and the official film site describes the character as bringing “hidden agendas and new uncertainty” into the fight for power. Anya Taylor-Joy also returns as Alia Atreides, with the trailer giving us another unsettling look at Paul’s sister as she takes on a more prominent role in the final chapter.
Florence Pugh is back as Princess Irulan, Jason Momoa returns as Duncan Idaho, and Charlotte Rampling also reprises her role as Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam. The wider cast includes Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem and Isaach de Bankolé.
The trailer packs in plenty of what we have come to expect from Villeneuve’s Dune films, with huge desert landscapes, political tension, warfare and, of course, more sandworms. But Paul is a very different man from the one we first met. He is now Emperor, and the power he fought so hard to gain has come at an enormous cost. The trailer shows him becoming more ruthless and suspicious of those around him, with his decisions now threatening the people closest to him. It looks like the final chapter will be dealing with the consequences of his rise to power, and whether Paul can hold on to everything he has gained.
The film is based on Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, although Villeneuve has already made changes across the first two films, so it remains to be seen how closely this final chapter follows the book.
For CultureCues, we are very ready for this one. We loved the first two Dune films, and this final trailer has only made us more excited to see how Villeneuve brings Paul and Chani’s story to a close. Seeing their children for the first time was one of the highlights for us, and there are already a few little changes from the book that have us wondering where the film is going to take things. And with Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday currently opening in cinemas on the same day, are we about to get Barbenheimer all over again? Either way, we will have the comfy clothes on, a large popcorn and Coke at the ready, and be fully prepared for a very long day at the cinema.
Dune: Part Three arrives in cinemas internationally from 18 December 2026.
