Warner Bros. has released a new trailer and poster for The Cat in the Hat, giving audiences another look at the upcoming animated adaptation ahead of its cinema release this November. The film marks Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s first full-length feature and reimagines one of Dr. Seuss’s most iconic characters in an all-new adventure packed with mischief, magic and mayhem.

Bill Hader leads the voice cast as the Cat, who this time finds himself on what may be his most important assignment yet. Working for the I.I.I.I. (Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC), he is tasked with helping siblings Gabby and Sebastian adjust to life in a new town. There is just one problem: taking things too far is kind of his speciality. According to the official synopsis, the Cat’s latest mission could be his last chance to prove himself. Fail, and he could lose his magical hat.

The voice cast also includes Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry, Quinta Brunson and Paula Pell, with Tiago Martinez, Giancarlo Esposito, America Ferrera, Bowen Yang and Tituss Burgess also featuring.

Directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, the film appears to be taking the beloved character far beyond the story many audiences know. The newly released trailer leans into colourful fantasy worlds, larger-scale adventure and a distinctly chaotic sense of humour, while the new poster puts the Cat’s larger-than-life personality front and centre. For CultureCues, Warner Bros. is clearly not aiming for a straightforward retelling here, with the new trailer pointing to a bigger adventure than many fans may be expecting. We are definitely looking forward to this one. Bill Hader also feels like a brilliant choice for the Cat, bringing the right kind of mischief and humour to a character who has been causing trouble for generations. As the Cat himself would say, “It is fun to have fun,” and this feels like a joyful family cinema trip waiting to happen.

Whether this bold new take wins over audiences remains to be seen, but it certainly has our attention. Let’s just say we’re curious to see what kind of mayhem the Cat has planned when he arrives in cinemas this November.

The Cat in the Hat opens in cinemas internationally in November 2026.
