Prime Video has released the trailer for Murder 101, a three-part true-crime docuseries following a Tennessee high-school class whose classroom project developed into a real investigation of a decades-old series of unsolved killings. All three episodes will arrive on 13 July 2026.

Led by sociology teacher Alex Campbell, students at Elizabethton High School began examining the Redhead Murders, a series of cases involving unidentified women whose bodies were discovered across the southern United States during the 1970s and 1980s. The educational exercise soon grew beyond the classroom and developed into a serious investigation. The students connected overlooked information and brought renewed attention to victims whose stories had largely faded from public memory.

The trailer follows the class as its members realise their work could contribute to a genuine investigation. Rather than treating the cases as an abstract mystery, the series appears to place particular importance on restoring the victims’ identities and recognising the lives behind the headlines.

“At its heart, Murder 101 is a story about what happens when someone believes young people are capable of extraordinary things,” director Stacey Lee said. She added that Campbell created an environment where his students could think critically and contribute to something larger than themselves.

Directed by Lee, the docuseries is produced by KT Studios and Freshman Year. Jon Watts, Dianne McGunigle and Stephanie Lydecker serve as executive producers. The first episode of Murder 101 debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year as part of its Nonfiction Pilot Showcase. The series is based on the true-crime podcast from KT Studios and iHeartMedia.

For CultureCues, the most compelling part of Murder 101 is the responsibility placed in these students and how seriously they rose to it. Their investigation gives the series a strong human angle, while ensuring the women at the centre of the cases are not forgotten. We will be watching this July.
