Outlander: Blood of My Blood is almost back, with Season 2 taking us straight into the Jacobite Rising and once again separating both of the show’s central couples. The new season begins on Starz in the US on Friday, 18 September, before arriving in the UK on MGM+ on Saturday, 19 September.

Jamie Roy and Harriet Slater return as Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, alongside Jeremy Irvine and Hermione Corfield as Henry and Julia Beauchamp. Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 premieres on Friday, 18 September on Starz in the US, with new episodes released weekly on Fridays. For UK viewers, the new season begins on Saturday, 19 September on MGM+, which is available as an add-on through Prime Video. New episodes will then arrive weekly on Saturdays. Season 1 is already available to stream on MGM+ for anyone wanting a rewatch first.

What Happens in Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2?

Season 2 moves into the 1715 Jacobite Rising, with the Scottish Highlands divided as the clans are forced to decide where their loyalties lie. Brian and Murtagh return to Castle Leathers, where Brian is expected to fight alongside his father, Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat.

Ellen returns to Castle Leoch, where Colum and Dougal are already divided over how Clan MacKenzie should respond to the rebellion. She begins working on her own plan to protect the clan regardless of which side eventually wins. Henry and Julia have finally found each other again after their unexpected journey into the past, and their plan is to return through the stones to their own time and their daughter, Claire. Unfortunately, Outlander was never going to make things that easy.

The Season 2 Trailer Separates Henry and Julia Again

The official Season 2 trailer, released on 27 August, shows Henry and Julia attempting to travel through the stones together with baby Claire, only for something to go very wrong. Henry makes it through, while Julia and Claire remain behind, leaving the couple separated yet again. Julia realises that Henry has somehow gone through without her and the baby, while Henry is left trying to find his way back to them. His final promise in the trailer, “Whatever comes, I will find you”, might be one of the most Outlander lines imaginable.

Brian and Ellen are facing their own separation as the Jacobite Rising begins. “I’ll die before I let them take you,” Brian tells her, with Ellen replying, “That’s what I’m afraid of. You have a war to fight, but so do I.” The trailer shows how much the rebellion will affect both their relationship and their families.

Who Is Returning for Season 2?

Jamie Roy returns as Brian Fraser, with Harriet Slater as Ellen MacKenzie, Jeremy Irvine as Henry Beauchamp and Hermione Corfield as Julia Beauchamp.

The returning cast also includes Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan.

For CultureCues, we were already excited for Season 2, but this trailer has made the wait for September considerably harder. Moving into the Jacobite Rising gives Brian and Ellen so much to deal with, while Henry going through the stones without Julia and baby Claire genuinely got us. And that “Whatever comes, I will find you” line? That is so Claire and Jamie coded it hurts. Apparently finding your way back to the person you love across impossible distances runs in both sides of this family, and yes, we are already emotional about it.
