Apple TV has released the full trailer for Cape Fear, its new 10-episode psychological horror thriller starring Javier Bardem, Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson. The limited series will premiere globally on Friday 5 June 2026, with the first two episodes arriving together before weekly releases continue through to 31 July.
Inspired by Martin Scorsese’s 1991 remake, which was produced by Steven Spielberg, the series follows married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden, played by Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson, whose lives are upended when Javier Bardem’s Max Cady is released from prison. As Apple TV’s official synopsis puts it, “a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden” when Cady is let out and sets his sights on revenge. Unfortunately for the Bowdens, Cady is not exactly coming out with a gratitude journal and a fresh outlook on life. He wants payback from the people he holds responsible for putting him behind bars.

The new trailer leans into psychological dread, family paranoia and Bardem looking like the last person anyone should want turning up at their front door. It also suggests a slightly different visual flavour from the previous film versions, bringing Cape Fear into Apple TV’s slicker, more modern thriller world while keeping the core threat intact.
The cast also includes CCH Pounder, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Jamie Hector, Malia Pyles and Anna Baryshnikov. Nick Antosca, whose credits include The Act and A Friend of the Family, serves as creator, showrunner and executive producer, with Scorsese and Spielberg among the executive producers, giving the series some seriously impressive thriller credentials.
For CultureCues, the big draw here is obvious: Bardem doing full nightmare mode opposite Amy Adams in a prestige thriller with proper heavyweight names behind it. Cosy viewing? Absolutely not. One to watch with the lights on? Very possibly.
