Celebrity Catchphrase is officially returning for Series 12, with ITV commissioning 10 new episodes of the long-running game show from STV Studios. Stephen Mulhern will return as host, once again asking celebrity contestants to work out familiar sayings from animated picture puzzles while raising money for charity. The new series will also include a special episode in support of Soccer Aid.
Filming for Series 12 will take place this autumn, with the new episodes set to air on ITV1 and STV and stream through ITVX and STV Player. ITV has not announced a transmission date or celebrity line-up at this stage.
Mulhern said he was “fantastic” to be returning for another series, adding that he loves knowing viewers will be at home shouting answers at the television and often doing better than the celebrities. He also highlighted the amount raised for charity through the show and said: “Roll on the new series.”
Celebrity Catchphrase relaunched in 2013 and has since featured hundreds of names from television, sport, music and social media. Series 11, which aired earlier this year, included Rob Delaney, James Acaster, Mel Giedroyc, Joanna Page, Chris Packham, Guz Khan and Motsi Mabuse.
For CultureCues, Celebrity Catchphrase is still one of those easy weekend watches that is almost impossible not to play along with. We love watching it with the family, although it usually ends up getting a little competitive over who can guess the most catchphrases first. Stephen Mulhern is always great as host too, and another 10 episodes means plenty more chances to shout answers at the screen alongside the celebrities.
Celebrity Catchphrase Series 12 will film this autumn for ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player, with a release date to be announced.
