National Cinema Weekend is officially underway, with more than 500 cinemas across the UK offering discounted tickets today, Saturday, 5 September, and tomorrow, Sunday, 6 September. If you have been meaning to get back to the cinema, this is a good weekend to do it, with major chains including ODEON, Cineworld, Vue, Showcase and Picturehouse all taking part.

Most tickets are available for £4, while some participating cinemas are offering screenings from £3. The discounts cover a wide range of films and, depending on the chain, several premium formats too, so the deal is not limited to standard 2D screenings.

Which Cinemas Have £4 Tickets This Weekend?

Cineworld is offering £4 tickets across 2D, 3D, 4DX, ScreenX, Superscreen and recliner screenings throughout National Cinema Weekend. IMAX tickets cost £6, with the usual £4 deal plus a £2 premium-format uplift.

ODEON is also offering £4 tickets across its films and screens this weekend, including premium formats such as IMAX, iSense, Dolby and XL.

Vue tickets are £4 across participating films and seats, including Lux and UltraLux recliners, while Showcase is offering films, screens and showtimes for £4 throughout the weekend. Picturehouse cinemas are also taking part with £4 tickets.

The Light is among the chains going even cheaper, with participating venues offering films for £3 across Saturday and Sunday. Some premium seats or formats may carry an additional charge, so it is worth checking the final price before booking.

What Films Can You See During National Cinema Weekend?

The discounted weekend covers films currently playing across UK cinemas, with titles including Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The Odyssey, Toy Story 5, Coyote vs. Acme and The Dog Stars, alongside Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer’s new dark reimagining The Death of Robin Hood.

Individual listings vary depending on the cinema, and some venues are also using the weekend to bring older favourites back to the big screen. Showcase, for example, has screenings of The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition trilogy and The Hunger Games films among its weekend programme.

If there are several films still sitting on your watchlist, it is worth checking both Saturday and Sunday listings as your local cinema may have different options across the two days.

How Do You Get the £3 and £4 Cinema Tickets?

There is no separate voucher or discount code required. Tickets can be booked directly through participating cinema websites, apps or at the cinema, with the National Cinema Weekend price applied to eligible screenings on 5 and 6 September.

Because the event includes both major chains and independent cinemas, it is worth checking your nearest venue even if it is not an ODEON, Cineworld or Vue. Participating locations and screenings can also be found through the National Cinema Weekend cinema finder.

For CultureCues, we already liked the sound of £3 and £4 cinema tickets when this weekend was announced, and now that it is here, we are booked in for a double bill ourselves. There are plenty of other films we would happily catch again on the big screen, and cheaper tickets also leave a little more of the cinema budget for the important things: popcorn, Pick & Mix and an unnecessarily large drink.
