Saturday Night Live UK is heading back to Sky and NOW this September, and Jeff Goldblum has been confirmed as the first host of Series 2. The Jurassic Park and Wicked star will take over hosting duties for the live premiere on Saturday, 12 September, with Irish singer-songwriter CMAT joining him as the first musical guest of the new series.

The second series will once again follow the familiar SNL format, with a different celebrity host and musical guest each week alongside topical sketches, live performances and the UK version of Weekend Update. All 11 members of the original Saturday Night Live UK cast are also returning for Series 2.

When Does Saturday Night Live UK Series 2 Start?

Saturday Night Live UK Series 2 begins on Saturday, 12 September on Sky and NOW, with Jeff Goldblum hosting and CMAT performing as musical guest.

Sky has confirmed six episodes for the first part of Series 2, airing across September and October. There is a break in the schedule after the third episode, with no new show currently listed for 3 October before the series returns the following Saturday.

The confirmed dates are:

Saturday, 12 September – Episode 1
Saturday, 19 September – Episode 2
Saturday, 26 September – Episode 3
Saturday, 10 October – Episode 4
Saturday, 17 October – Episode 5
Saturday, 24 October – Episode 6

Further episodes are planned for early 2027, although Sky has not announced their transmission dates or hosts.

Jeff Goldblum Will Host the Series 2 Premiere

Jeff Goldblum becomes the first celebrity host of the new run, following a career spanning films including Jurassic ParkIndependence Day and, more recently, Wicked. As with the US version of Saturday Night Live, the host will take part in sketches alongside the regular cast throughout the live show.

CMAT will provide the premiere’s live music. The Irish singer-songwriter and Brit Award nominee has become one of the most recognisable names in contemporary Irish pop and country-influenced music, making her a very fun choice to kick off Series 2 alongside Goldblum.

Sky will reveal the remaining hosts and musical guests across the coming weeks.

What Can We Expect From Saturday Night Live UK Series 2?

Series 2 will continue the format introduced in the first UK run, with topical comedy written around the week’s biggest stories alongside recurring sketches, live music and Weekend Update. Each episode is broadcast live, keeping the format close to the American original while giving it a distinctly British cast and perspective.

The series is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio’s UK production team and Broadway Video for Sky and NOW. Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels returns as executive producer, with James Longman serving as lead producer.

For CultureCues, Jeff Goldblum feels like a brilliant way to open Series 2. He already has the slightly unpredictable energy that works perfectly for live comedy, and pairing him with CMAT makes this a genuinely fun first episode. We are also very curious to see how SNL UK develops in its second run now that the cast has had a full series together. Live television, topical sketches and Jeff Goldblum being handed an SNL stage? We will absolutely be tuning in.
