Maxton Hall – The World Between Us is coming back for one final season, and we finally know when Ruby and James will return. Prime Video has confirmed that Season 3 will premiere globally on 9 December 2026, with Maxton Hall opening its doors one last time as their story comes to an end.

Harriet Herbig-Matten and Damian Hardung will return as Ruby Bell and James Beaufort, with the final season based on Save Us, the third novel in Mona Kasten’s bestselling trilogy. Season 3 will consist of six episodes. Prime Video has also confirmed that the first sneak peek will arrive on Thursday, 3 September, so fans will not have long to wait for another look at what is coming.

Season 3 picks up after Ruby was suspended from Maxton Hall College, putting her dream of studying at Oxford at risk. Determined to prove her innocence, she joins forces with James as they try to uncover the truth, although the investigation will bring further secrets and problems for the people around them.

The official synopsis reads: “Ruby has been suspended from Maxton Hall College. Her dream of going to Oxford is slipping away, but she refuses to give up. Together with James, they fight to prove her innocence. The closer they get to the truth, the more it threatens to tear everything apart. Friendships are tested and secrets they never expected come to light. In the end, they must decide—is love enough?”

The returning cast includes Sonja Weißer as Lydia, Eidin Jalali as Graham, Ben Felipe as Cyril, Fedja van Huêt as Mortimer, Runa Greiner as Ember, Justus Riesner as Alistair, Govinda Gabriel as Kesh, Andrea Guo as Lin, Frederic Balonier as Kieran, Eli Riccardi as Elaine and Dagny Dewath as Ophelia.

Martin Schreier returns to direct Season 3, while Sandra Stöckmann and Ceylan Yildirim serve as head writers. Marlene Melchior, Catharina Junk and Aylin Kockler are also part of the writing team, with Ceylan Yildirim, Markus Brunnemann and Eike Adler executive producing.

The six-episode final season will launch in more than 240 countries and territories through Prime Video. Both previous seasons are already available to stream, giving fans plenty of time for a rewatch before December.

For CultureCues, we are very happy to finally have a date for Ruby and James’ return, even if we are not quite ready to say goodbye to them yet. Maxton Hall has become such a huge hit for Prime Video, and after that Season 2 ending, there is a lot to resolve before the story is over. Six final episodes does not feel like nearly enough, but we will absolutely be there on 9 December to see how it all ends.
