Netflix has unveiled the first-look images for The Body and confirmed that the new eight-part series will premiere globally on 11 November 2026. Created by Under the Bridge writer-director Quinn Shephard, the teen psychodrama mixes Catholic horror with the influence of ’90s and Y2K films including Carrie, Jennifer’s Body and Mean Girls.
The story follows a group of badly behaved Catholic school girls whose dance-team initiation goes wrong. Soon afterwards, they begin experiencing prophetic visions that trigger mass hysteria across their town, with the newly released images offering the first look at the girls and the world surrounding them.

Shephard has described The Body as a “love letter to all the ’90s and Y2K teen movies and erotic thrillers” she grew up watching, with Heavenly Creatures and The Crucible also among the influences. The creator calls the series her most personal project so far, drawing partly from her own experiences of growing up queer and the confusion surrounding identity, religion and girlhood.
Kristina Bogic stars as Anya Butler, Sara Boustany as Elise Zakaria and Geena Meszaros as Lisbeth Anderson, with Nnamdi Asomugha playing Father Franklin. The main cast also includes Louisa Krause, Shirley Chen, Jackson Kelly and Sofia Wylie, with The Traitors winner Gabby Windey appearing as Coach Miller. Ashley Madekwe, Marcel Ruiz and Motell Foster are among the recurring cast.

Shephard serves as creator and showrunner and will direct the premiere alongside additional episodes. The series also reunites her with Riley Keough following Under the Bridge, with Keough executive producing alongside Gina Gammell and Sacha Ben Harroche for Felix Culpa.

For CultureCues, The Body has definitely caught our attention. A group of girls at a Catholic school suddenly having prophetic visions is already an intriguing setup, and the mix of Jennifer’s Body, Carrie and Mean Girls influences sounds right up our street. We love anything Y2K, and the focus on girlhood makes it even more our kind of series. The first images have made us curious to see how strange things get, this is one is firmly on our November watchlist. Amen, Netflix.
The Body will premiere globally on Netflix on 11 November 2026.
