Prime Video has confirmed that The Last Sunrise, a new romantic drama starring Maia Reficco, Fernando Lindez and Eva Longoria, will stream globally from 26 August. Based on the novel by Anna Todd, author of the After series, the film follows college student Ry, played by Reficco, who travels to Mallorca with her mother, played by Longoria, and unexpectedly falls for Julián, played by Lindez.
While on the island, Ry unexpectedly falls for Julián and begins embracing every moment of their time together. However, her worsening condition and long-hidden family secrets threaten to change everything before the summer ends. The story combines a summer romance with an emotional family journey as Ry begins questioning what she wants from her future.
The film’s tagline reads: “Fall in love. Chase the sunrise. Live every moment like it’s your last summer.”

Carlson Young directs The Last Sunrise from a screenplay by Anna Klassen. Young’s previous work includes Upgraded and The Blazing World, while Klassen’s writing credits include Stillwater and When Time Got Louder. Jennifer Gibgot, Lena Roklin, Andrew Panay, Brian Pitt and Todd serve as producers.
For CultureCues, The Last Sunrise has all the ingredients for an emotional summer romance, with Mallorca providing a gorgeous backdrop for Ry and Julián’s relationship. A wonderful cast brings the story to life, while the family drama adds another emotional layer. With romance, hidden secrets and a summer that could change everything, this may be one to keep tissues nearby for.
The Last Sunrise streams globally on Prime Video from 26 August.
